Autumn Study Week 2023

Module: “The Kingdom of Israel” (OLD05a)

“The reigns of Saul, David and Solomon mark a significant point in the history of Israel and this module examines their contribution to God’s plan and the changing role of the nation during this period.”

Dates: 6th to 10th November 2023

Autumn Study Week 2023 posterThis is a Study Week during which we will be offering our Module: “The Kingdom of Israel” (OLD05a). This will be the sixth event of its kind that we have organised and, following the success of our previous residential weeks, we are very excited about the possibilities it offers. The event will begin with an evening meal on Monday and conclude on Friday morning. Classes will be held throughout Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

The Study Week will be run along similar lines to our Study Weekends, inasmuch as we plan for an intensive study event, but being a residential event allows much more flexibility and opportunities for learning and spending time with one another.

If couples wish to come along but only one attend the classes, this will be fine. We do ask that all who enrol for the Module attend all the sessions as would be expected on a residential programme.

Though this is not a ‘Family’ event and falls within regular school term time, you are welcome to bring along young children, but you will need to entertain them separately during class times as no special provision is being made for them. Children under 5 years old are FREE (that is, they will not be charged!).

The event is open to all who wish to engage themselves in focused Bible study, and may be of particular interest to those already teaching within their local assemblies.

As for the cost … it is just £180 per person for the four nights including full board.

Location, accommodation and other details

Bassenfell Manor is located at the north east end of Bassenthwaite Lake in the Lake District. Directions can be found here.

If you will be travelling by train, there is a reliable bus service from the railway station in Penrith all the way to Bassenthwaite. Please let us know if you need more details.

Ariel_Manor rBassenfell Manor was built in 1842 by William Rathbone VI as a country residence for the Rathbone family. They were were devout Quakers, William Rathbone being a very close friend of Florence Nightingale. Basil Rathbone the actor (famous for his portrayal as Sherlock Holmes) was connected with Bassenfell and he probably spent some holidays at the manor, but never actually lived there (at least not on a permanent basis).

There are large meeting rooms and dining room on the ground floor. Sleeping accommodation is on the first and second floors in rooms sleeping from 2 to 5 people. Most rooms are ensuite, but those which are not have their own private bath/shower rooms. If you have any special accommodation needs, please contact us before making a booking.

Teachers: Patrick Boyns, Jon Galloway, and Mark Hill
