In many areas of life, in-house training is a regular occurrence. Whether it be in education or business, we all want to be better at what we do and that inevitably involves some form of training. It is true that we learn a great deal through experience, but we can learn so much more when we share also in the experiences of others.
In-house training can take several different forms. Often we can benefit from those within the congregation who have particular knowledge or experience, but sometimes it is useful to bring in others from outside who through teaching and training can share their experiences in a number of areas of God’s mission. That is where we can fit in.
With a broad range of teachers with much varied experience, the British Bible School has put together a number of training options which we think can be useful to the growth and development of local congregations. We are currently offering day or weekend seminars/workshops in the following areas:
- Missional outreach
- Back to basics
- Congregational growth
- Leadership
- Good stewardship
- Youth issues
- Praise and worship
For further details on these options, please click here.
These are being offered in addition to our existing programme of Applied Biblical Studies and are designed for maximum involvement within the congregation. Each option can be tailored to meet your particular needs at a particular time – just get in touch and we can see what might work best.
Some suggestions
You might want to think about setting aside one weekend every year for the purpose of training – you could include it in your congregational development plan. (If you don’t have one of these, you could do with some training on Leadership or Congregational Growth!)
As a congregational event, we leave it up to you to decide whether to invite others or keep it strictly ‘in house.’ Our suggestion would be that you limit attendance to those within your own congregation – that way we can be more specific in dealing with particular local issues. For this reason we do not advertise training events.
You might decide that an In-House Training event would form the focus for a congregational retreat ‘away from it all’ in a rented location. That could lend a great deal of flexibility as to what might actually be achieved.
To discover what sort of training might best suit your needs, you could carry out a congregational appraisal to highlight areas in need of particular attention. Let us know if you would like us to help you with that.
